Corian® is a material created by DuPont ™, is a solid, nonporous, homogeneous surfacing material, composed of ± 1/3 acrylic resin (also known as polymethyl methacrylate or PMMA), and ± 2/3 natural minerals. These minerals are composed of aluminum trihydrate (ATH) derived from bauxite, an ore from which aluminum is extracted. Colours is present through the entire thickness of this material and, if necessary, it can be easy repaired without leaving any traces.
The colour of Corian® is renowned for its exceptional versatility, reliability, elegance and almost limitless design possibilities.
DuPont™ Corian® can be thermoformed in wooden or metal moulds at controlled temperatures in order to create various 2D or 3D design objects.
Continuous surfaces can be created with inconspicuous joints rendering its surface very hygienic and does not support the growth of bacteria and fungi.
DuPont™ Corian® is a remarkably durable material and easy to maintain. It cannot delaminate and stands up well to daily use. It resists most of the impacts, cuts and scratches.
The homogeneous composition and uniform color of the material allow to restore the original beauty easily. Surfaces can be fully restored with ordinary mild abrasive cleansers and scouring pad. Damage can usually be repaired on site without having to completely replace the material.
Corian® is an inert, non-toxic, hypoallergenic and chemically non-reactive material. Under normal temperature conditions, it does not emit gases. When burned, it releases mainly carbon oxides and the smoke generated is light and it does not contain toxic halogenated gases.
Corian® offers a wide range of colours. You can choose a single colour or experiment with combinations of different colours. Corian® can also be used as an insert or in combination with other materials such as metal, wood or stone.
